Sam Mayer officially started his rookie career at the age of four when he began racing the Kid Karts at Badger Raceway in his home state of Wisconsin.
At age 16, three months and eight days, Mayer became the youngest champion in NASCAR history when he secured the 2019 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship on October 4, 2019, at Dover Speedway. He held this title until November 2020.
Mayer’s 2020 success includes tallying eight wins and 17 top-five finishes in 19 starts across ARCA and its East and West divisions. He also won the Showdown championship. He has seven starts to date in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. At Bristol Motor Speedway on September 17, 2020, he won his first Truck Series win at age 17, making him the second-youngest winner in the history of the series. Immediately following that race the same evening, he won another ARCA Menards Series race.
On September 15, 2020, JR Motorsports (JRM) announced that Mayer, an alumnus of the organization’s Late Model program, will reunite with JRM in 2021 to begin the next phase of his racing career.

WON FIRST RACE OF THE SEASON
Sam took first place on the first race of the ARCA Menards East series on February 10 at New Smyrna Raceway

17-year-old Mayer will join a drive a JRM Chevrolet in the second half of the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series
season before taking the reins full time in 2022.
WON FIRST CAREER RACE IN THE NASCAR GANDER RV & OUTDOOR TRUCK SERIES RACE
Sam took first place in the UNOH 200 in Bristol, TN on September 17, 2020.
2019
YOUNGEST DRIVER TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP IN ANY NASCAR SERIES
Won the 2019 NASCAR K&N Pro Series Championship becoming the youngest driver to win a championship in any NASCAR series. Sam earned four wins, 11 top-five and 11 top-ten finishes.
ENROLLED IN DRIVERS EDGE DEVELOPMENT
JR Motorsports and GMS Racing have developed Drivers Edge Development, a program presented by Chevrolet, to groom the next generation of racers. Sam is one of six racers currently enrolled in the program.
FIRST WIN IN THE NASCAR K&N PRO SERIES EAST
Won the pole at Bristol Motor Speedway, breaking the current track record, and led 150 of 150 laps of his first win in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
LUCAS OIL RACEWAY TRIUMPH
Sam qualified for P10 at Lucas Oil Raceway, however he ended up starting last due to the starter needing to be replaced. Despite the initial setback, Sam finished seventh place.
SPEEDS TO FOURTH AT DOVER INTL. SPEEDWAY
During his first time out at the Crowley 125 “Monster Mile,” Sam qualified for P12 and was able to run a great race, working his way up to a fourth-place finish.
STEALS SIXTH-PLACE FINISH
After a strategic run at Orange County Speedway, Sam managed to move up from P15 to secure a sixth-place finish, his third top-ten finish with JR Motorsports.
FIRST WAKE COUNTY SPEEDWAY WIN
As a rookie, Sam won the Solid Rock Carriers 123 for his first run at Wake County Speedway. Sam started P8 but was able to quickly move to the lead and keep it the rest of the way, marking his first CARS Tour victory.
HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY COMBACK KID
After starting in P24 for the 28-car feature at Hickory Motor Speedway, Sam was able to snatch positions as the race went on despite battling a loose car and advanced to finish in seventh. It was Mayer’s third top-10 finish in CARS Late Model series competition this season.
ADVANCES TO FIFTH PLACE
Mayer started in P20 at Watkins Glen International but was able to reposition himself to tenth place and was able to rebound and finish in fifth.
FIRST PLACE RUN AT HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Mayer dominated the first of two 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model features, marking first win with JR Motorsports. Mayer started from the pole and led every one of the 40 laps.
WINS SECOND SUMMER SHOOTOUT CHAMPIONSHIP
Sam won four races throughout the series and maintained top-3 finishes throughout the Summer Shootout series, leading to him taking home the championship for the second year in a row.
2018
JOINED GMS RACING
GMS Racing officially added Sam to the team for the 2019 season, allowing them to expand into ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
FAITH ON FIELD APPEARANCE
Sam appeared on Faith On The Field, a one-of-its-kind weekly Christian sports talk radio show on 610 ESPN. It features faith-based interviews with multi-media personality Rob Maaddi and prominent professional athletes. 
HIGHEST FINISHING ROOKIE OF 2018
Sam Mayer was the highest finishing rookie in the 2018 CARS Response Energy Tour late model championship standings, finishing fifth behind his teammate, veteran Josh Berry, and just in front of fellow rookie Layne Riggs.
VOTED MOST POPULAR CARS TOUR DRIVER
Sam was voted the CARS Tour Series’ Most Popular Driver in a poll conducted by Race22.com, earning 39% of the votes, just in front of Layne Riggs with 43%.
SECURES TOP-10 FINISH AT SOUTH BOSTON SPEEDWAY
Out of 30 cars, Sam qualified for P12. He ran a solid race at South Boston Speedway and overall was able to move up four positions to take home an eighth-place finish.
RUNNER-UP AT HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY
After starting in fifteenth place, Sam led the majority of the 200-Lap race at Hickory Motor Speedway. He took home a second-place finish, coming in behind teammate Josh Berry.

IMPRESSIVE FIFTH PLACE FINISH AT MYRTLE BEACH 400
During his first run at the prestigious Myrtle Beach 400, Sam finished with an impress fifth-place finish in the 250-lap feature against more than 60 of the best Late Model drivers.
HISTORIC GREENVILLE PICKENS SPEEDWAY WIN
First time racing a Limited Late Model Car the youngest driver to ever win a Late Model race at historic Greenville Pickens Speedway.
SWEEPS U.S. LEGENDS WINTER HEAT SERIES
The breakout 2017 season for Mayer featured a full slate of US Legend Car Series events, including first place in the U.S. Legend Car Winter Heat Championship, where he took a pole at each race.
