Race Rundown
· The Franklin, Wis. native put the No. 1 Accelerate Professional Talent Solutions Chevrolet sixth in line to start the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 during Saturday morning’s qualifying event.
· The green flag fell for the 200-lap event on Saturday afternoon with Mayer looking to make a move. However, as the pack steamed into Turn 2 of the quad-oval, Mayer slipped up into the outside wall after losing grip on the top line. Crew chief Mardy Lindley called the No. 1 Chevrolet to pit road to assess the damage on the right side.
· After the team got a good look at the underneath of Mayer’s No. 1 Camaro, the damage was deemed unrepairable after they discovered the control arm on the right front was snapped in half which sent Mayer to the garage for an unfortunate end to his day in Texas.
Sam Mayer, driver No. 1 Accelerate Professional Talent Solutions Chevrolet team
“We had a really fast Accelerate Pros Chevrolet today and it is just really unfortunate that again we were not able to show the potential for this team. We have a lot of work to do and this puts us in a tough spot but we will get ourselves ready over the off week and head to Charlotte with our heads held high.”
